VITA. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program offers free tax help to low to moderate income people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. Certified volunteers receive training to help prepare basic returns. To locate the nearest VITA site call 1-800-829-1040.
E-Filing:
Please note: While it is possible to use the library's computers to file your return using the e-file option, we cannot recommend that you do so for the following reasons:
1. The library's computers have a user time limit. If someone is waiting, you will be asked to finish your work, perhaps before you have completed the return.
2. Library computers can and have "crashed". The library cannot be responsible for any problems arising from computer failure.
3. The library cannot guarantee the security of the personal information necessary for you to complete your return. It could be possible for others to view information such as salary and social security number.
