Tax Assistance:

There are two locations people can go to get tax assistance and preparation through AARP's Tax-Aide Program. There is no fee and AARP membership is not required for anyone 50 or older, and who can't afford a tax preparation service.

1.800.906.9887 - The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs prepare tax returns for free for qualifying taxpayers.

Please note:  While it is possible to use the library's computers to file your return using the e-file option, we cannot recommend that you do so for the following reasons:

  1. The library's computers have a user time limit. If someone is waiting, you will be asked to finish your work, perhaps before you have completed the return.

     
  2. Library computers can and have "crashed". The library cannot be responsible for any problems arising from computer failure.

     
  3. The library cannot guarantee the security of the personal information necessary for you to complete your return. It could be possible for others to view information such as salary and social security number.
