Director’s Report
Buildings and Grounds
Tree Trimming: A neighbor on Cherry Street called with concerns about branches from library trees falling into his yard. The library met with City Zoning to confirm that the trees are within the library's property lines. Jarrett Tree Service will be providing a quote.
The library will look into clearing out the back fence area in 2027.
The last furnace replacement for the Meeting Room was quoted at $11,823.00 and was previously approved by the Board.
Power washing was completed by Dr. Revival and Hall’s Family Pressure Washing on July 22.
The library is awaiting drawings for two new sliding doors for the front entrance door replacement project with Ahner Commercial.
The elevator has stopped working multiple times in recent weeks. Davis and Newcomer replaced the power supply on July 15. It is recommended that the library consider budgeting for elevator replacement within the next five years. Models and parts for the current elevator have been discontinued, so a major component failure could require complete replacement of the elevator.
Technology Updates
The library is considering using Stephenson Grant funds for a new projector and screen or AWE computers.
Hotspots will begin circulating in August 2026.
Trainings and Meetings
The Director will attend the ARSL Annual Conference in Alabama from September 16–20 and will be recognized as an Adult Literacy Grant recipient.
Abbey is expected to attend the ARSL Annual Conference in Wisconsin in 2027.
Current Projects
Clyde Fair/Halloween Parade: The library discussed closing for the Saturday of the parade and is considering whether to participate in the Clyde Fair or Halloween parade.
Bicycle Lending: The bicycle lending project is ongoing.
StoryWalk: The tentative ribbon cutting is scheduled for September 10 at 11:00 AM.
Library of Things: The library is creating space for the collection and developing an inventory of items needed.
The Friends of the Library have helped support the Library of Things by providing an outdoor movie kit and a music lending library.
